  1. What did you expect? You posted it on her link, of course she would deleted it. Ha!! Yes, she did wrong and should be reprimanded or punished for that. It was sad that she did that. It was really bad! But imho, it's between her and Jodie and it's not your business. Sorry to say this, no, it was not because "it was too awesome to have peeps follow your lead", but because you had nothing to do and too much time on your hand to pass judgement on other people and you had nothing to write.
I usually follow your blog and found what you wrote fun, but after this, I don't think so! I hope she didn't read this blog or she could sue you for defamation.

  2. um..... last time I checked, calling someone my hero isn't called defimation, it's appreciation. And also, let her sue me....... after she gets out of court for violating copyright laws, I'm sure her lawyers will enjoy the repeat biz, rite?????????????

  3. Jane...I love you and I love the creative way you called CNC out!!!

  4. When she STOLE someone elses work and tried to pass it off the the whole world as her own, she made it everyone's business. Bravo for calling her out!

  5. I agree that she should have been called out. As a photographer myself, it is frustrating that people deliberately steal photos and pass them off as their own. I had an incident like this and it was a nightmare. And last I knew, as long as you are telling the truth, it isn't defamation. It is the truth that she took that picture and was passing it off as her own. She has since removed the picture/blog because I couldn't find it on her blog. And really imho, her photos aren't that great. I think they are all over-edited. No wonder she felt like she had to take someone else's beautiful photo and pass it off as her own.

  6. Three cheers for you! Outing hacks, ahem, I mean congratulating followers is totes the best, fersure. I love your bloggie and am going to repost it for my friends to worship as well. :)

  9. Jane,

  10. Awwww!!!!!!! It's like you made up a new name so it would look like someone is saying theivery-- er I mean placeholders is actually okay 2 do!!!!!!!!!! Ppl who make up names are sOoOoOoOoOoO lamesauce. Only loosers do that. E> Jane Momtographer

    ReplyDelete
  11. Wow, this is just sad. Yes only loosers make up names. Not sure what you have against this photographer. By you having the notion she would actually make up a fake name only proves you could careless about the truth.

Once again this is Katie Singleton not CNC moments. Done with your blog. May you get what you put in life. The good and the bad.

  12. Two things. 1) Websites use placeholders and there are times things don't get changed out. I have built tons of websites and have seen this happen. 99.9% of the time it's not intentional. 2) You can be held liablle for slander against someone. By targeting a business and spreading false facts, you don't have them you are speculating, you are libeling a person and a business. I would highly recommend that you dial it back. Jessica ( a real one not a made up person emailing Facebook)

  13. Pretty sure a "photographer" should have an abundance of their own photos before starting a website, and therefore have no need to use placeholders, let alone ones they don't have the right to use to begin with (and trying to hide the thievery by cropping out a watermark even).

    ReplyDelete
  14. How many websites have you built? I would imagine none. You often use shots that aren't the clients. For various reasons. You change them out later. In this case I think you are missing facts and making assumptions without all the details. My point is that targeting her clients on Facebook etc... Starts to strike me as a personal attack. This blogger (assuming they weren't the one that responded) is obviously young and new to photography, She may not realize that you can have an opinion with a blog but to target a business or a person can get you into trouble. Facts. Facts. Facts..

    ReplyDelete
  15. i've personally built a ton a websites. you know when they go live? when they're ready. when do my photography sites go live? when all our images in place. i would never, ever, EVER dare or think or scheme to put someone else's work on something i called my own.

your defense of the original copycat is moot. when a website or blog has your name attached to it, only your work should be there. if something needs a placeholder, just don't put an image there, or, better yet, a block of color.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Using placeholder images that are not in the public domain is a violation of copyright law. If you need to use placeholders while you are in the design stage of building a web site use blocks of color or images freely available in the public domain.

    Not stealing isn't rocket science.

  17. I have had tons of sites done and things happen. Bottom line until you have real facts...ie: talk to all parties involved then targeting their business can get you in trouble. I don't mean to disrespect CNC but she is a small time photographer in a small market, I don't think she intentionally went out and put up work that wasn't her's. She doesn't need to, she does great work. Actually one of the best small timers I have seen in a while. I am fotunate enough to have worked with "real" photographers. I like facts. I don't like people who send emails to a person's Facebook list. It is unprofessional and I would imagine could be illegal. I defend someone when they are being called a thief and they are not their to defend themselves. I don't know why the picture was used. I have worked with real photographers for years and have had to get my clients pictures off websites. There are a million reasons. Bottom line call someone out but give them a chance to respond before you liable their name and business.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Could you possibly be more transparent?
"She doesn't need to, she does great work. Actually one of the best small timers I have seen in a while."
Her work is amateur at best. You're obviously either her, or a biased friend. An unintelligent biased friend...
    *e.g. not i.e.
    *hers
    *there
    *libel
Also, if you really WERE a website designer, you'd understand copyright and you'd know "getting your clients pictures off websites" is illegal and will get you sued.
Last, but not least, wtf are you talking about "people who send emails to a person's Facebook list"? That's not even possible, and nobody said anything close to that.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Wow. Your an a** I know her, obviously. I don't know her well. She lives in the same town as me. Personally, I have worked on million dollar brands in the entertainment, beverage, and fashion industries. Feel free to to not like my judgement on her work. I don't mind. I get paid by others for my opinion. Sorry if my spell check was off I have to small kids I am getting ready for bed. And I am on an iPad. It's like typing on the top of a pin. I am not proof reading. Besides this blogger writes in a fashion that it really doesn't matter. Not sure what you were trying to say.... If my client owns the photo then getting them
off websites won't get you sued...it could get the other person. But unless there is real damage done it's not worth it. Honestly, I usually hand these cases to the lawyer. I didn't respond to get in a pissing match with anyone. Several people have gotten random emails on Facebook using this post and slandering CNC Moments. It is possible to send individual messages to a persons FB business page. It's how I heard about the blog pst.

  20. "It is possible to send individual messages to a persons FB business page. It's how I heard about the blog pst."

Looks like the cat's out of the bag, CNC moments. Or did the iPad mistakenly write that someone sending a message to the FB business page of CNC moments was how YOU found out about this post?

Your pants are on fire. And you need to stop stealing photos. If your work was as good as you think it is, you wouldn't need to steal Jodie's work to sell it. You're a thief and a scumbag. No amount of "placeholder" bs will pull you out. My whole family is in the web industry, NOBODY uses copyrighted images as placeholders. Why? BECAUSE IT'S ILLEGAL. You stole, you got caught. Now you get to lie in the bed you made. Deal with it.

  21. I think I made it clear that I am not the photographer. I am not. I believe from what I understand she is on vacation. Several of her friends and clients got a note through Facebook about this blog. We can only assume that the way they sent the note was by going to the business page and looking at who liked the page and sending individual notes.

My name is Jessica. I am not a photographer. I am lucky to have made a living working in Marketng and PR for major brands across the US and Europe. One of my biggest pet peeves are when people blog and target companies with derogatory remarks etc... I only responded to you because I thought you should realize that it is not a good idea to target a person or company. It can have consequences. It's the downfall of our society that people think they can say whatever they want because it's on a computer.

I really an done is time. I just wanted to be clear that I am not in anyway related to CNC. I don't work for her and I don't go to her house for Sunday dinners. I just know her because we have mutual friends. She didn't write this and I don't even know If she knows about this post.

  22. I am her friend (and honored to be), even if I wasn't a friend this type of issue should be dealt betweeen the two photograghers and there is always two sides to a story (in all of life's situtions).

Lets say she did the worst case senario and used poor choice is using the photograph to start her website. Does that mean its okay for someone to point the finger and create a trigger effect where someone then goes on facebook and emails her clients claiming all her work is false? One little action, unintentionally or not does have great consequences. This goes to both sides.

CNC did correct the problem by taking to photo down, but the damage is already done. You've sucessfully create doubt in peoples mind. However my friend is a strong person and will survive your pittyful blog.

If you are ever perfect in life, please write a book and let us in on your secret.

  23. As a side note - CNC Moments (since you seem to be huffing here about how you got caught stealing and it wasn't your fault and it was all OK and such) - please learn how to use your camera and how to do basic post processing.

  24. -- She doesn't need to, she does great work.

Then she should post it on her site in place of the horrid things that are there now.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Know what I find totes adorbs????? CNC Moments has a copyright notice on her webbysight. I mean, like, does that mean I can't use her piccies on my webbysight as placeholders?!?!?!? UN. FARE.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Wow. "Anonymous". You are a very nasty spiteful person.

    ReplyDelete
  27. @Katie, yes, the damage is already done. The damage SHE CREATED BY STEALING! If she didn't want her business to be affected, SHE SHOULDN'T HAVE STOLEN! PERIOD!

No matter what she's convinced you, it was not an accidental mistake. She cropped out the freaking watermark! That takes thought and intention.

I'm not perfect, but I'm definitely not a thief. Should I write a book about honesty and business ethics? Because I can.

  28. For those who are quick to make attacks. She was given this photo by a male friend to create her website. This perhaps was a bad judgment but she thought the friend was liget and of course taken it down. Unfortunatly she is on vacation to defend herself but am sure she wouldn't even bother with this blog. I am not defending her but the facts at hand. Too often people throw out accusations right or wrong and litterally distroy someone;s lively hood. Bad things happens when good people do nothing and I REFUSE to stand by. No she has never once asked me to defend her or mention this blog. I am here doing the right thing.

I know her personally and not defending a thief but someone who used poor judgment in trusting a friend. Lets say she did tell me a lie. She owned up to it, did what is right by taking it down and making ammends. What more can you ask, unless you are aiming to truly hurt that person on a deeper level. Any idiot can burn a barn but not everyone build one. It takes guts to admit you are wrong.

    -Katie

  29. I am so amazed there are actually people in this world who would defend these actions! How about next time some guys breaks into your house and steals your TV, a bunch of us get together and defend it saying it was just poor judgement, or that he was just using it as a placeholder in his place til he could get one of his own and was totally going to give it back but those mean ole police and reporters busted him and then had the nerve, the gall, to talk about it and tell other people! OH MY! Poor criminal!

  30. For a blog that is suppose to satirical in nature this entire thread is mean spirited. I know LA gets to be a drag but do you really think attacking a small photographer in the middle of Texas is the best use of your humor or writing talents? I get that the entire blog is about one trick mom photographers that have sprouted up across the country like weeds in a field. The other post are funny in nature but this one seems to be the only one you go after someone real. It just seems uncool.

    ReplyDelete
  31. @Katie "It takes guts to admit you are wrong." Yeah, you're right.

However it takes a coward to quietly take the image off the website with absolutely no public apology to her clients or the photographer she stole from. It takes a coward to blame a mysterious "male friend" (yeah, right) who "gave it to her", or a "web designer" who "used placeholders and forgot about them". All lies to cover her butt. No guts or admission whatsoever.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Just following all the post and lmao about the Anonymous person who is attempting to lecture Katie about coward and guts on a fake site!!!

I agree other posts are funny but this one is mean. Will NOT be following this or the facebook site... TOTES...frownieeface..Rhys Harper
